Architects Antonio Altarriba envisioned and implemented the contemporary Mariam House, a 510 square meter residence adapted to the characteristics of its site in Bétera, Valencia, Spain. With one facade oriented towards the street and the other opening up to the courtyard and swimming pool to the south, the building showcases a complex architecture. The developing team described the project as follows: “Conceptually, it is composed of a volume for the day area on the ground floor, clad externally with white plaster on the rear areas, and wood on the front, and another volume for the sleeping area on the upper level, clad in phyllite stone, supported by the lower volume and cantilevered on the south and west sides“.
A spatial relationship between the lower and upper levels was achieved through a void, where the staircase was placed. All rooms were enriched with light finishes such as steel, glass and wood, enhancing the overall elegance. Probably the most striking element of the Miriam House project- the swimming pool- seems to majestically welcome visitors inside the residence. [Photography: Diego Opazo]
